“I think Tommy brings a lot to the table,” Wallington Board of Education President Joseph Smith said after the Oct. 19 vote. “Tom is an excellent fit for what our needs are right now.”
The board went through two rounds of interviews with several candidates before deciding on the borough native.
“It is an honor and privilege to be appointed to the Wallington Board of Education,” Brynczka said. “As a graduate of Wallington High School and now that my children are attending, I'm looking forward to working with the board on the many challenges that [are] facing our school system.”
Among other reasons, Smith said, Brynczka is a good choice because "he went through school system in Wallington and understands the benefits of education. He is very active in a lot of organizations as far as youth goes. He understands what our youth need.”
There's also his engineering background.
“Classroom space is limited and we need to plan for future growth,” Brynczka said.
“We need to find ways to maintain current school programs and find ways to expand or develop new programs,” he added. “I understand the importance of maintaining budgets and monitoring finances to make sure funds are allocated towards these programs.”
Brynczka’s term is effective immediately. After completing Lauterhahn's final year, he can run again. And Brynczka intends to run.
